Relocating can mean moving to another neighborhood, to another city, or to another state. Don't hesitate to find a reputable mortgage broker online. If you are able to establish a relationship before relocating, you may be able to have your financing in place before you actually move. At the very least, you can have it in process or know who you'll work with once you get there. It is a good idea to take out a Home Equity Line of Credit (heloc) on your current home prior to you listing your home for sale. There is generally very little to no cost to establish a HELOC. This will allow you to "cash-out" the current equity in your home prior to your closing. This will make financing on a new home easier to obtain.

If your company is providing relocation benefits, be sure to find out the details as they will sometimes limit your choice of mortgage brokers, real estate brokers, moving companies, etc. If you are not comfortable working with your company's preferred network, ask them what benefits you will receive if you handle the relocation on your own.
