The easiest and most recommended method of finding a home improvement contractor is to ask friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, etc... for some referrals. Ask everyone you know who does what you are looking for and if they have anyone that they can recommend. This method is fairly reliable because you are being recommended someone that has done quality work for someone you know and trust already. Refinance with cash out. Experts agree that home improvements are a great way to increase the value of a home. Before you even think of hiring a contractor the first thing you should do is determine a budget and stick to it. Then call 3 different contractors and let them know exactly what you want to have done to your home and what your home improvement budget is. Pat attention to each contractor, does he arrive on time, is the truck he drives in good condition and how does he look overall. Chances are the contractor who shows up late in an old beat up truck will also show up late to your home improvement job. You should then get a written estimate from each home improvement contractors that explains in detail what work they intend to do and the price it will cost you as well as an estimated completion date.

Many contactors keep a portfolio of projects they have done. You can also go out to visit the site a contractor is currently working on.
