Real estate agentAn individual who is licensed to negotiate and arrange real estate sales; works for a real estate broker. Take a long time in selecting your realtor. It will be a long process to buy a house and you want someone thats going to work for you! It may be a wise idea to use your reale estate agents preffered lender. The agent will probably have a good working relationship with their preffered lender, which often can make the differance between a deal that closes and a deal that doesn't. Many mortgage professionals have good relationships with quality realtors and can assist you with selecting a good realtor. If you are looking to buy a home find a realtor with ABR credentials. This means they are an Accredited Buyers Representative and work for the home buyers best interest, not the home sellers. It more often then not more beneficial to have a Realtor that is an exclusive agent representing you, rather then a dual agent that has both the sellers and the buyers best interests in mind. When buying a home it is helpful to check with your loan officer and other trusted resources for a realtor name. You spend an extraordinary amount of time with this person in the beginning of your transaction and need to call upon them through the home buying process. When buying a home think of your realtor, loan officer, appraiser, title agent/settlement attorney as a team. Without one we would not be able to complete your transaction. Call (phone) for a list of your new TEAM member. A Good Agent Will help you find a home that is within your budget and lead you to the right mortgage broker for your financing needs. Agents often can preview homes on the behalf of their clients, and save the client some time in finding the home which meets their needs. Real estate agents are not always realtors. A realtor is a real estate agent who is a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Real estate agents are merely the sales staff working at a real estate brokerage. A real estate agent usually charges the seller a commission of 6%. Half the commission goes to the buyer's agent. These commissions are negotiable, so you may save money by shopping around. » DISCLAIMER: The information contained in this article on 'Real estate agent' is a collection of contributions by licensed mortgage professionals and is not the opinion of Broker Outpost LLC.
